Essential oils have an indirect effect on the body and are used in the following ways:
- During a massage treatment
- In the bathtub
- With hot or cold compresses
- By inhaling them
- In a foot-bath
- With a diffuser
- During steam inhalations
Aromatherapy can be applied on its own or combined with other products during facials or bodycare treatments.
Usually an aromatherapy session is done during a massage treatment and can last from 10ʼ – 60ʼ.
It is recommended that essential oils be used only by certified aromatherapists, because in some cases or diseases they should be avoided. Only they, after discussing with the client and taking his/her case-history, know which essential oils to use with safety and in what doses.
